What is the ÖzU Gender Office ? 

Gender Equality, which is the 5th Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations is an important constituent of Özyeğin University. ÖzU Gender Office, established in 2021, works towards achieving gender equality at our university. The Office comprises two gender experts and an advisory board that  guides the activities of the office.  

ÖzU Gender Office considers three main elements:

• Maintaining safe learning/working environment in the line of “Safe Campus” understanding;
• Ensuring project based in gender equality studies;
• Developing/ promoting partnerships with civil society and the private sector on gender equality. 

ÖzU Gender Office works with the relevant university units to implement the plans included in the Özyeğin University Gender Equality Plan. ÖzU Gender Office coordinates the training and activities to ensure a more equitable university environment. 

Özyeğin University Gender Equality Plan aims to create a gender equality sensitive work environment in all administrative and academic units. It also aims to improve the quality of all educational processes and research activities. You can access the GE Plan from the "About Us" section on our university website.

What does ÖzU Gender Office do?

We can summarize the activities of the ÖzU Gender Office as follows:

• Preparing and conducting plans to implement the actions included in the Özyeğin University Gender Equality Plan,
• Reporting and strategic planning activities on gender equality implementations,
• Developing awareness-raising training materials on gender equality for academic-administrative staff and students, and systematically providing in-house trainings,
• Following gender-oriented national and international research and applied projects that the University can carry out, and supporting the participation of relevant units, departments and academics in such projects,
• dvising the academic-administrative staff and students of the university on gender-related issues,
• Representing Özyeğin University in activities and events organized outside the university on gender equality issues.
