The Talking About Gender – Awareness Talks series, initiated by the Özyeğin University Gender Office, held its first session on March 12, 2025. The opening event hosted the dean of faculty of law, Prof. Dr. Özlem Yenerer Çakmut, a distinguished scholar known for her work in Criminal Law. The session aimed to highlight the challenges women face in male-dominated professional fields, create a space for sharing personal and professional experiences, and encourage women to serve as role models for others. During the talk, Prof. Dr. Çakmut shared insights from her academic and professional journey, discussing gender-based barriers in the legal and justice sectors, ways to overcome systemic inequalities, and the importance of women’s solidarity in advancing equality. Participants engaged in an interactive dialogue on gender roles, workplace inequality, and the glass ceiling phenomenon, making the event both inspiring and thought-provoking for students and academics alike.
