As part of the “Sustainability in Aviation” course offered at Özyeğin University, the University’s Gender Equality Specialist Arca Begüm Bayır was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a presentation titled “Women in Aviation.” During her presentation, Bayır addressed the challenges women face in the aviation sector due to gender inequality and discussed with students the potential solutions and actions needed to promote gender equality in the field. In the following session, which served as a continuation of the course, the instructor Sena Kılıç and Arca Begüm Bayır invited Serçin Taşköprü, an Aircraft Engineer and Executive at Boeing, to share how the theoretical concepts discussed in the previous class are reflected in practice. Accepting the invitation, Taşköprü visited the university, met with aviation students, shared her experiences as a woman in the industry, and provided valuable insights and advice for their future professional lives.
